Drug Checking in the Medical Journal of Australia
Mar 24, 2016
The Medical Journal of Australia has published an article titled "Drug checking to improve monitoring of new psychoactive substances in Australia." The article provides an overview of drug-checking services available in other parts of the world, and it describes some of the concerns raised about these types of services. The concerns include issues such as drug-checking legitimising the use of drugs, liability of drug check staff towards consumers of the substances as well as drug sellers using the service as a quality control mechanism. The authors point out that these concerns have not been supported by evidence from Europe.
