Tobacco: Possibly the Worst Thing in a Joint
Jun 30, 2017
Smoking cannabis mixed with tobacco is common practice across European countries and can increase the risk of dependence and other health harms for users. Dr Adam Winstock from Global Drug Survey wrote this blog post back in May called "Tobacco - possibly the worst thing in a joint", based on data from the almost 70,000 cannabis users who participated in Global Drug Survey 2017. The post looks at ways to tackle this cultural norm by promoting the use of utensils such as vaporisers and suggests that more sophisticated health promotion messages that respect the choices people make around cannabis use will be required to help prevent death due to tobacco related disease.
