Explainer: what is nitrous oxide (or nangs) and how dangerous is it?

Dec 7, 2018

An article recently published by The Conversation titled “Explainer: What is nitrous oxide (or nangs) and how dangerous is it?” responds to media reports following an incident at schoolies week on the Gold Coast. Authored by Professor Nicole Lee and Dr Stephen Bright, Australian academics in drug research, the article explores the effects, the risk of harm, the prevalence and potential responses to the use of nitrous oxide. The article also contains a word of warning relating to irresponsible media reporting which can inadvertently influence perceptions of the use of certain substances creating a normalisation of their use and piquing curiosity among young people.
