Reducing the supply of inhalants: Free Dovetail resources available now

May 17, 2018

Back in 2013, Dovetail received funding to develop a print and online resource designed to educate retailers on the misuse of inhalable products like deodorants, spray paints and other common household products.  There has recently been reports of an increase in inhalant use throughout Queensland, and so we thought it would be timely to promote this useful resource once again. The "Retailers Response to Inhalants" kit includes information about inhalable products, suggestions for retailers around minimising misuse of inhalants including refusal strategies, signage for shops and educational resources for retail staff. Youth workers, health workers, police and other services addressing inhalant misuse can take these resources into retail outlets and use the resource to assist engagement with retailers on this important issue.  Reducing the supply is one component of an holistic response required to reduce the harm from inhalant use.
