This place I call home: Views of children and young people growing up in Queensland

The Queensland Family and Child Commission has published a report titled “This place I call home”.  This is the report from the “Growing up in Queensland” project which seems the thoughts, views and opinions of young people about their community, their hopes and dreams and issues important to them.  More than 7000 young people aged between 4 and 18 provided input, with common themes including young people having an intense desire to be include in the decisions impacting on their lives. Young people indicated that they were worried about bullying, mental health, alcohol and other drugs, and the environment and climate change. Most young people said they seek support from friends (66%), family / carers (62%), but also the internet (44%) and professionals (43%).
