Therapeutic residential care: An update on curent issues in Australia
Oct 5, 2018
“Therapeutic residential care: An update on current issues in Australia” is a recently released paper by Child Family Community Australia (CFCA) funded by the Australian Institute of Family Studies. This report provides an update on developments in therapeutic residential care in Australia. Some of these developments include the formation of an industry peak body, a better understanding of the effective elements of residential care with a more comprehensive understanding of young people’s needs plus guiding principles and workforce initiatives. Some of the key messages from the report include that therapeutic residential care is a relatively recent development in service delivery for young people living in out-of-home care, that there is emerging consensus regarding the effective elements of therapeutic residential care and that further research is needed.
