An overview of Australian music festival attendees

Aug 2, 2019

The National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre (NDARC) has published a bulletin titled “Australian music festival attendees: A national overview of demographics, drug use patterns, policing experiences and help seeking behaviour.” The bulletin uses data from the 2019 Global Drug Survey, which is a self-selected sample so while not representative, however this represents a hard to reach population group. The majority of those in the sample were infrequent music festival attendees, with the majority being white, educated and professional.Almost three quarters had encountered police in relation to their drug use in the last twelve months, and 6.4% had accessed emergency medical treatment.
