European Drug Markets Report 2019

The European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA) have released their annual “European Drug Markets Report 2019.” Given the global nature of the illicit drug industry, the report provides some insight into issues affecting us here in Queensland. The report describes increases in online drug distribution through both the darknet and traditional social media. Despite various darknet drug marketplaces being targeted by law enforcement, they remain resilient with ten marketplaces still in operation today.  The report also describes increasing diversification in the cannabis market, with increases in high-potency extracts such as waxes, oils and “shatter.”
