
The instagrammability of pink drinks: How alcohol is marketed to women in Australia

The Public Health Advocacy Institute of Western Australia have published a report titled “The instragrammability of pink drinks: How alcohol is marketed to women in Australia.” The report looked at the alcohol industry trade publication “National Liquor News”, and searched for terms relating to women, along with “pink.” The report describes a range of articles in the industry publication highlighting “The pink trend is in full swing”. This referred to items like pink gin, pink cider and rosé - often being highlighted in sponsored social media posts by so-called “influencers”. Related to this, was a trend towards highlighting “low calorie” or other “better for you alcohol choice” concepts.
