
Mental Health in Australia: A quick guide

The Australian Parliamentary Library have published a research paper titled “Mental Health in Australia: A quick guide.” The paper includes a handy summary of key information on mental health in Australia, including prevalence of mental health conditions, economic impacts of mental illness, current levels of spending on mental health services as well as key federal mental health strategies and plans. Some of the key highlights from the paper include an estimate from the most recent Australian Bureau of Statistics “National Health Survey” that there were 4.8 million Australians with a mental or behavioural condition in 2017-18, which was an increase of 2.6% from 2014-15.
