When is a child in need of protection?

The Australian Institute of Family Studies (AIFS) has published a resource sheet titled “Australian legal definitions: When is a child in need of protection?”.  The resource sheet provides a succinct overview of each state and territory’s legal definition of a child in need of protection. The resource includes links to relevant legislation, and can help workers to understand the ways that the child protection system responds to children that might be in need of protection in Australia.
