Australian Winter School 25th & 26th of July 2019 - Drugs: Pleasure, Medicine or Poison?

Jun 21, 2019

The Australian Winter School 2019 will be held in Brisbane on Thursday 25 and Friday 26 July 2019. Australian Winter School aims to showcase best practice and models of treatment, emerging issues and developments in the treatment of alcohol and other drug related problems. This year’s program hosts renowned keynote speakers including Professor Beau Kilmer on heroin-assisted treatment and supervised consumption sites, and Melbourne-based author Jenny Valentish on “How gendered is substance use?”

Dovetail’s own Cassie Davis will be presenting “The Youth Needs Census Queensland: The first comprehensive study of young people in youth AOD treatment in Queensland” - a study conducted by Dovetail in partnership with YSAS, and youth AOD services from across the state. The program also involves panel discussions, a highlight on lived experience and a number of break out sessions with speakers covering a broad range of topics. The Australian Winter School is one of the rare occasions that the Queensland AOD sector comes together in one place - we highly recommend this fantastic event.
