Queensland Closing the Gap Report Card 2018

Mar 1, 2019

The "Queensland Closing the Gap Report Card" published by The Department of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships (DATSIP), measures the progress of the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) Closing the Gap targets specific to Queensland. The targets that are on track in Queensland include halving the gap in Year 12 attainment or equivalent by 2020 and the target of 95% of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander four year olds enrolled in early education by 2025.

Some of the targets that are not on track include the closing the gap on life expectancy within a generation by 2031, halving the gap in mortality rates for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children under five within a decade by 2018 and halving the gap in employment outcomes between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and non-Indigenous people within a decade by 2018. There are a number of Queensland health strategies and initiatives that are working towards significant long term improvements in health outcomes.
