International comparison of pre-drinking behaviour
May 17, 2019
An article has been published in the journal “Alcohol and Alcoholism” titled “The role of sex and age on pre-drinking: An exploratory International comparison of 27 countries.” The article uses data from the Global Drug Survey, involving 64 485 respondents and found significant differences across the various countries. These differences include relatively low levels of pre-drinking recorded in some countries (for example 17.8% rate of pre-drinking in Greece) compared with very high levels of pre-drinking on other countries (85.6% rate of pre-drinking in Ireland). Some of these differences may be related to different alcohol policies across the different countries.
