The impact of parental drinking on children

Nov 8, 2019

The Institute of Alcohol Studies has published a blog post titled “The impact of parental drinking - a conversation we should start.”  The post is by Lucy Bryant, and includes an overview of the results of research conducted in the United Kingdom. More than a third of children in a survey of almost 1000 parents reported at least one adverse consequence of parental alcohol consumption. These consequences included impacts like being late for school, or arguing with parents more than usual. Some of these results were seen in children of parents who drank moderate amounts of alcohol, although increased consumption was linked with increased impacts.
