Nov 8, 2019
The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare has published a report titled “Young people in child protection and under youth justice supervision 2014 - 2018.” The report includes information on 58 193 young people aged between 10 - 14 at the start of the study period, who were involved in either the child protection or youth justice system between July 2014 and June 2018. The study found that 50% of the young people under youth justice supervision had also been in child protection. This compares with 8% of those receiving child protection services being under youth justice supervision during the study period.
