New Drug Trends report finds nearly half of people who regularly consume ecstasy have tested their drugs
Oct 18, 2019
A bulletin from the National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre (NDARC) has been released this week titled “New Drug Trends report finds nearly half of people who regularly consume ecstasy have tested their drugs”. The Drugs Trends program at NDARC surveyed people who regularly use illicit drugs about drug checking. They found that more than four in 10 people who reported regular use of ecstasy (45 percent) and one in 10 people who regularly inject drugs (11 percent) have ever tested their drugs. Most people reported use of personal testing kits at home (e.g. reagent kits).
The research shows that people are interested in finding out more information about what substances they are taking and highlights drug checking as a potential for reducing drug related harms.
