School-based violence prevention: A practical handbook
Sep 20, 2019
The World Health Organisation (WHO) has published a resource for schools titled “School-based violence prevention: A practical handbook.” Schools have an important role to play in violence prevention. Violence can take many forms for young people in a school context - including things that take place in the school setting such as bullying, but also young people’s experiences outside of school, such as family violence. Schools can be a place that challenges harmful social and cultural norms that tolerate violence towards others (for example gender based violence) and provide a link for young people experiencing violence in the family or community.
