Ten Sessions: A podcast on Cognitive Processing Therapy for trauma

Sep 13, 2019

“This American Life” podcast series recently broadcast an episode titled “Ten Sessions.”  The episode features a candid overview of a person going through cognitive processing therapy (CPT) for trauma related to sexual assault. Cognitive Processing Therapy is an evidence-based therapy which has many similarities for Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. CPT is a short term therapy that focuses on restructuring cognitions relating to the traumatic event, and is designed to be delivered in condenses sessions - in this case ten sessions delivered in a two week period. The podcast includes actual recordings of the therapy sessions. Please be advised that this includes descriptions of child sexual abuse which may be triggering for some people.
