Apr 17, 2020

A systematic review and meta-analysis titled “Prevalence of Cannabis Withdrawal Symptoms Among People With Regular or Dependent Use of Cannabinoids” was recently published in the JAMA Network Open Access journal.

The article reviewed 47 studies that included 23 518 regular or dependent cannabis users, and included the use of a validated cannabis withdrawal symptom scale. The authors found 47% of participants experienced withdrawal symptoms, with the highest prevalence in those who reported daily cannabis use, people who were diagnosed with a cannabis use disorder, people who also used tobacco, and those who used other substances. The authors also found higher prevalence among those who were in an inpatient setting.
