Dovetail has continued to receive a large number of calls for support and assistance relating to the use of inhalants. So we thought it’s worth re-promoting a resource that continues to be useful. Published in 2011, “Caring for people who sniff petrol or other volatile substances: A Quick Reference Guide for Health Workers” was published by the National Health and Medical Research Council. While the guide is now almost ten years old, the content remains relevant and useful. The guide covers topics such as managing acute intoxication, managing withdrawal symptoms, brief interventions to reduce inhalant risks, education, managing co-existing health conditions and aftercare, just to name a few!
