We recently came across this publication titled “The Truth of Memory and the Memory of Truth: Different Types of Memory and the Significance for Trauma” written by the Blue Knot Foundation.
The publication explores the latest research on the nature, processes and function of memory, specifically focusing on traumatic memory. The Authors unpack what we know about the two types of memory, explicit and implicit (conscious and unconscious) and address the many misconceptions of memory and the way traumatic memory is expressed and can be resolved.
President of the Blue Knot foundation, Dr Cathy Kezelman, stresses in the executive summary that the information presented has urgent practical implications. She states that understanding traumatic memory is part of being ‘trauma informed’ and is a must for legal and health professionals to allow for better support to those struggling with the disabling impacts of trauma.
