Trans @ School
Mar 6, 2020
The Queensland Human Rights Commission, LGBTI Legal Service and Legal Aid Queensland have developed a resource titled “Trans @ School” in consultation with the Queensland Children’s Gender Service, young people, parents and educators.
There are two resources - a guide for trans and gender diverse students covering a wide range of topics relevant to the school environment and how to navigate them. This includes things such as the use of toilets and change room facilities, sports and gender specific activities to dealing with bullying and privacy issues including medical information.
The second resource is a guide for schools, educators and families of trans and gender diverse children and young people. This resource includes information on ways to best support a transitioning student, managing reactions within the school community, dealing with peer groups and parents, and much more.
