
Family violence and child-aware practice - podcast

Emerging Minds have gathered a group of family violence practitioners and other leaders in the field to deliver a two part series podcast on family violence and child-aware practice.
In episode one, workers discuss the impacts of family and domestic violence on the child, acknowledging the climate of fear that children live in and how this can impact on their behaviour. Also explored is the impacts on the mother-child relationship, practice dilemmas that arise from difficult conversations regarding child wellbeing and responding to these dilemmas.
Episode two explores finding ways to start talking about children's wellbeing in the context of family violence, safety considerations, organisational support and key areas of conversation that can be had with fathers. This episode expresses the importance of increasing the confidence and skills of the generalist practitioner in this area given the prevalence of family violence in Australia.
