“‘We are Strong. We are Resilient. But we are Tired’ – Voices from the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Lived Experience Centre Yarning Circles Report”

The Seedling Group and The Lived Experience Centre, in collaboration with Black Dog Institute, have released a report titled, “‘We are Strong. We are Resilient. But we are Tired’ – Voices from the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Lived Experience Centre Yarning Circles Report”.

The report, through the use of virtual yarning circles, explores Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ lived experience of suicide. Information was gathered to understand what was going on for people who had experienced a suicide attempt or crisis, along with people’s experience of services through this time, both helpful and unhelpful. The yarning circles also talked about suggestions for healing, with a common suggestion being that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people needed enhanced community-controlled mental health services, along with mainstream service providers improving their cultural engagement and capability.
