Positive Choices webinar recording: Risk taking - why do teens do the things they do?

Oct 29, 2021

Positive Choices recently hosted a webinar presented by Paul Dillon from Drug and Alcohol Research and Training Australia (DARTA), titled  “Risk taking - why do teens do the things they do? What can parents do to keep them as safe as possible?”  Although the webinar is targeted at parents and guardians, we think workers will get something out of it too.

The webinar starts off by exploring the period of adolescence and the creation of “the teenager” which was a term coined by an advertising agency in 1941. Paul then discusses “teenage rebellion” and what the research says about adolescent risk taking. The webinar ends with a discussion on risk taking at teenage parties and provides some practical tips for parents on increasing safety.
