Incarceration Nation: Documentary exploring the over-representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the justice system
Sep 17, 2021
NITV has produced a documentary exploring the over-representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the justice system in Australia. “Incarceration Nation” written and directed by Dean Gibson provides an overview of the history of racial injustice and inequality that has led to continuing high rates of incarceration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. It includes stories of what life is really like behind bars including the stories of young people in youth detention. To further highlight these issues and themes, NITV has put together a bunch of other related documentaries available to view online as a past of a dedicated “Incarceration Nation - The History of Black Injustice.”
