In their own words: How to support young people in suicidal distress

Aug 19, 2022

Suicide Prevention Australia has published a report titled “In their own words: How to support young people in suicidal distress”. There’s evidence that there’s been an increase in emergency department presentations from young people who have self-harmed or are experiencing suicidal ideation. This report provides insights into better alternatives, including safe spaces, youth peer workers or mobile crisis support teams that could offer support in a young person’s home. The report is based on consultations with young people as well as organisations who support young people.
