New AIHW website: Regional Insights for Indigenous Communities
Feb 18, 2022
At Dovetail we sometimes get calls from services looking to access local-level health data about their communities, in order to design new programs. This local-level data can be difficult to source. The Regional Insights for Indigenous Communities (RIFIC) is a new website developed by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare. It brings together a range of regional statistics about the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their communities. The aim of the website is to provide access to local-level data, to help communities set their priorities and participate in joint planning with government and service providers. While there are problems with the accuracy of some government data (particularly relating to remote indigenous communities), the RIFIC could provide useful information when planning projects and initiatives.
