What happens when you switch from smoking cigarettes to vaping?
Feb 18, 2022
A recently published study titled “Exposure to Toxicants Associated With Use and Transitions Between Cigarettes, e-Cigarettes, and No Tobacco” aimed to find out what happens when someone switches from smoking cigarettes to vaping. The researchers measured and compared the levels of toxic chemicals (known as biomarkers of exposure or BOEs) in participants' urine to assess changes in people who either switched completely to vaping, those who both vaped and smoked (dual users), and those who only smoked tobacco. The study found cigarette users or dual users who switched exclusively to vaping had a significant reduction in levels of toxic chemicals detected in their urine.
