Our Futures - school based alcohol and other drug education program - free access for semester one 2022!
Jan 21, 2022
Previously known as “Climate Schools”, the “Our Futures” school based alcohol and other drug educational program has been refreshed and rebranded for 2022. Produced by The Matilda Centre for Research in Mental Health and Substance Use at the University of Sydney, the curriculum aligned program is evidence based and focuses on the health and wellbeing of students from year eight to ten with some options for year 11 students as well.
Research from 7 randomised controlled trials, including around 14,600 students from 169 schools across Australia shows the course improves student outcomes by: increasing AOD knowledge, decreasing intentions to use certain substances, reducing the use and harms of certain substances, reducing binge drinking and improving attitudes toward alcohol, slowing the progression of anxiety and reducing psychological distress. As an introductory offer, free access to the course is available for semester one 2022. The program will cost $10 per student thereafter.
If you would like to know more about this program, the Positive Choices website is hosting a webinar for teachers, other school staff, and youth health workers which will be presented by Dr Lauren Gardner (Research Fellow at The Matilda Centre) on Wednesday 9th February 2022 at 1pm AEDT (12pm Brisbane time).
