Australia’s attitudes and perceptions towards drugs

Jul 22, 2022

The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare runs the National Drug Strategy Household Survey every three years. The household survey is used to measure population levels of substance use, however it also tracks attitudes to a number of different drugs, including levels of support for various policy responses. A new data visualisation has been launched specifically focused on attitudes and perceptions towards drugs, where you can search your local region to see what people think. It includes information on the proportion of the population that support decriminalisation of various drugs, as well as levels of support for diversion programs, pill testing and measures to reduce tobacco smoking.
