The young people we work with aren’t always aware of how their substance use affects their lives and this practice tool can help workers guide a structured conversation about the impacts of alcohol and other drugs across four life domains. The explorative conversations help workers and young people develop insight together about what’s important in a young person’s life, problems they may have, and how alcohol and other drug use may impact them. It helps workers identify with young people where they might want to make changes that are meaningful to them and start working towards those goals.
