NDARC Webinar “Trends in the use of new psychoactive substances using wastewater analysis”
Nov 18, 2022
The National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre recently hosted a webinar titled “Trends in the use of new psychoactive substances using wastewater analysis”. Presented by Dr Richard Bade from the University of Queensland, the webinar describes wastewater analysis to monitor population level drug trends and outlines what this type of data can and can’t tell us. Dr Bade gives examples of how data from other sources can be used to cross reference wastewater data to understand changes in drug trends and he discusses the complexities of using this method to detect New Psychoactive Substances (NPS). The webinar also presents recent results from national and international data.
