We published this video back in 2019, but thought it's worth re-visiting.The four-column diagram is a brief intervention tool developed by Marina Birmingham, which combines some principles of motivational interviewing with a decisional balance- which involves weighing up the pros and cons of change. The aim of the tool is to help the person identify the reasons behind their substance use in a non-threatening way and to encourage them to consider making changes to their AOD use.
