Latest Australian Drug Trends Research Out Now
Sep 23, 2022
Every year, the National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre (NDARC) coordinates the Illicit Drug Reporting System (IDRS), and the Ecstasy and Related Drugs Reporting System (EDRS). These studies recruit people who use drugs in Australian capital cities, to find out about changes in price, purity and availability of a range of substances. The 2022 IDRS and EDRS have just been released. The EDRS found increases in the price of crystal and powder MDMA, with an increase in respondents reporting that MDMA had become more difficult to obtain in the last twelve months. The IDRS saw an increase in reports of recent use of methamphetamine, along with an increase in people reporting methamphetamine purity to be low, when compared with 2021.
