Talk about it: A guide to having open conversations about alcohol and other drugs with young people

The Alcohol and Drug Foundation have developed a resource designed to assist parents in talking with their children and young people about alcohol and other drugs. Titled “Talk about it: A guide to having open conversations about alcohol and other drugs with young people” the guide includes practical strategies to assist parents in having these types of conversations. We know that parental influence is a powerful moderator of young peoples’ substance use, and this resource gives tips suitable for both younger ages groups and older age groups. It also includes very handy suggestions around social media application settings that can reduce exposure to alcohol advertising, right through to harm reduction strategies for older age groups that might be planning on using alcohol.
