Results of the latest National Wastewater Drug Monitoring Program

Jul 14, 2023

The National Wastewater Drug Monitoring Program has just released their latest findings in their 19th report which provides data collected from December 2022 to February 2023.  Wastewater is regularly monitored both in urban and regional areas throughout Australia which helps tracks alcohol and other drug prevalence and trends in the community.   For the first time in wastewater reporting history, a reliable dose figure for cannabis has been determined which now allows cannabis consumption to be compared with other illicit drugs. This latest report noted Cannabis and Methylamphetamine as the two most used illicit substances during this time period.  Cannabis consumption was at least double that of Methylamphetamine consumption.
