Harm reduction behaviours among a sample of people who regularly use ecstasy and similar drugs
Mar 31, 2023
The Ecstasy and Related Drug System (EDRS) is an annual survey of people who regularly use ecstasy and similar drugs, to monitor changes in price, purity and availability. They have recently published a bulletin titled “Harm reduction behaviours among a sample of people in Australia who regularly use ecstasy and / or other illicit stimulants, 2022.” The most common harm reduction strategy identified by 75% of people people sampled was to use drugs with people who know that you are using drugs. This was followed by 67% who reported regularly drinking water, and 61% who reported spreading out doses. The harm reduction strategy that was used by the least people was testing the contents or purity of drugs, which 7% of people indicated.
